Den Haag / THE NETHERLANDS ( RNN Correspondent ) March the 12th, 2000
Roma from the Netherlands expect financial compensation in connection with their misery during Second World War also from the government in Den Haag. This was announced after a talk between a delegation of Roma and prime minister Wim Kok as well as other ministers. "We are happy that we were accepted as a partner for discussion" said Lalla Weiss after the meeting. According to her, the talks will be continued at the end of the month. The Dutch government had decided three weeks ago that Jewish survivors of the Holocaust would be paid 250 Million Gulden (110 Million Dollars). The Roma group will allegedly be compensated according to its smaller number. Unofficially, the sum 20 Million Gulden was mentioned.
